Suzanne Pepper

SP is a Hong Kong-based American writer with a Ph.D. in political science and a long-standing interest in Chinese politics. Her early work on the 1945-49 civil war between the Chinese Communists and their Nationalist adversaries may seem far removed from Hong Kong today. But one theme has remained constant throughout. Questions about dictatorship and democracy being debated in the late 1940s, have yet to be resolved and the debate has continued over time and space.
