【武漢肺炎】Vogue Italia 以「白」回應

武漢肺炎全球肆虐,意大利確診個案達 135,586 宗,17,127 人死亡,是全球排名第 3 的國家。病毒蔓延,沒有人能獨善其身,尤其是當人人留在家的情況下,消閒娛樂的行業必然面對前所未有的打擊。Vogue Italia 剛發佈了四月號的封面,沒有 Chanel、Dior,沒有名模巨星,留下的是一片純白色。

Vogue Italia 總編輯 Emanuele Farneti 撰文解釋是次決定,他們兩個禮拜前仍在籌辦時尚計劃,但正當疫情每況越下,醫護在拼命冒險時,他們不能視而不見,於是擱置了原本的計劃。今次武漢肺炎特輯,Vogue 嘗試找來專家對動盪的世界發表意見,亦找來在世界各地被鎖城防疫的 40 位藝術家,在家中拍攝 snapshot 於雜誌裡發佈。

這本歷史悠久的雜誌,曾經歷世界大戰、各式各樣的危機,卻從未試過像這次採用白色封面。Farneti 說道:

White is first of all respect.
White is rebirth, the light after darkness, the sum of all colours.
White is the colour of the uniforms worn by those who put their own lives on the line to save ours.
It represents space and time to think, as well as to stay silent.
White is for those who are filling this empty time and space with ideas, thoughts, stories, lines of verse, music and care for others.
White recalls when, after the crisis of 1929, this immaculate colour was adopted for clothes as an expression of purity in the present, and of hope in the future.
White stands for the sleepless nights of those who have worked on this issue, on both sides of the ocean and in complicated conditions. I am grateful to each and every one of them.

Above all: white is not surrender, but a blank sheet waiting to be written, the title page of a new story that is about to begin.

白,是奮不顧身拯救生命的人的制服顏色。

為著這個封面,可能 Vogue 已放棄了百萬計的廣告收入,對於一間媒體,一間公司,這並非一件易事。但 Vogue Italia 還是做到了,還記得時尚應該站於時代,時尚應該是藝術,在最壞的時代,回應世界的創作或比金錢重要。
