浸大教師譴責警方無理拘捕ㅤ製造白色恐怖

我們是一群香港浸會大學教師。香港警察於 2019 年 8 月 6 日拘捕我校學生會會長方仲賢，指其因購買十枝觀星筆而涉嫌干犯藏有攻擊性武器罪。對於此莫須有「罪名」、以及此高調拘捕帶來的白色恐怖，我們表示極度憤怒。

我們現在向警方作出最嚴正的投訴，要求警方立即釋放方仲賢同學，並為此等無理拘捕行為，立即向方同學及香港市民道歉。

觀星筆乃香港市民日常生活的平常用品，不少商店有售。警方今次拘捕購買日常用品的香港市民，反映香港警察濫捕濫權的惡行已達失控程度，香港警察必須停止製造白色恐怖。

最後，我們必須強調，今日香港陷入警民血戰的局面，我們感到十分痛心。政治問題政治解決，特首林鄭月娥必須立即正面回應香港示威者的五大訴求，停止借用警察作為高壓鎮壓香港市民的武器。

Statement by teaching staff of the Hong Kong Baptist University to condemn the police’s unreasonable arrest and spread of white terror

We are a group of teaching staff of the Hong Kong Baptist University. The Hong Kong Police have arrested the students’ union’s president of our University, Mr Fong Chung Yin. The police allege that Mr Fong has committed a crime of possessing offensive weapons, on the ground that Mr Fong has bought 10 astronomy laser pointers. We are furious at such a fabricated charge as well as the white terror spread to the public following the high profile arrest.

We condemn the police most strongly. We demand the police to release Mr Fong unconditionally, and apologize to Mr Fong and to the general public for the unreasonable arrest.

Astronomy laser pointers are common commodities available for sale in many shops. In this incident, the police have arrested a Hong Kong citizen based on his consumption of a common commodity. This reveals that the police has abused their power and have made arbitrary arrests in an out-of-control manner. We demand the police to stop spreading white terror to the general public.

We feel heartbroken at the violent conflicts between the police and the citizens. We believe that political issues should be resolved by political means. The Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Mrs Carrie Lam, should respond positively and immediately to the five key demands of the protesters. She must stop using the police to suppress the citizens of Hong Kong.
